From September 15 to November 15, 1998, Janis Ian will hold an online auction of approximately 300 items of memorabilia - old vinyl records, hand-written song drafts, recording session sheet music, instruments, and clothing. The auction will be held in honor of Janis' mother, Pearl Yadoff, as a benefit for Pearls' alma-mater, Goddard College.Among the items to be auctioned:
- Hamburg Steinway piano
- 2nd prototype of Janis Ian Santa Cruz Guitar
- living room concert
- first drafts of many songs
- first drafts of articles
- two inscribed copies of out-of-print poetry book Who Really Cares (currently selling at rare book dealers for $250 uninscribed)
- the hat worn on the Stars cover, gifts of jewelry
- old vinyl
- old safety masters and outtakes
- copy of original Society's Child single
- glasses used by Nina Simone & James Baldwin during brunch at my mother's home
- FBI files.
